Apr 17 - 19, 2015 Campout: Holiday Trav-L-Park, VA Beach

Hey, folks, it’s time to think about the first ODC campout of the year!  Yea!!! The Burdettes and the Rosses (Dale and Judy for those who might not have met them) are hosting that weekend.  The particulars are:

Dates:  Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 19, 2015

Location:  Holiday Trav-L-Park Virginia Beach, 1075 General Booth Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA

Cost:  Discounted rate of $35.70 plus 14% tax for a total of $40.70 per night.  This rate is based on 2 adults and up to 4 children under 18 years old and one towed vehicle.  There is a $6.00 per night charge for each additional adult and $5.00 for each additional vehicle.

June has reserved 10 sites for our use, site numbers 192 - 196 and 200 -204.  They are all pull-throughs with full water/electric/sewer.  If you want to arrive early or leave late, they are offering the discounted rate from Tuesday, April 14, to Tuesday, April 21.  She will hold the sites until February 21, but this looks to be a very busy weekend at the campground, and while she will try to hold them later, she can’t guarantee it.  To reserve your site, please call 757-425-0249 or 800-548-0223 and claim one of the available sites.  Let them know that you are there for the “Old Dominion Cardinal’s Rally.”

On Saturday, the Norfolk Sertoma Club is hosting their Spring Fever event at the campground and it normally brings in a few thousand people.  This is a charity event for Norfolk Sertoma and runs from 12 to 6 on Saturday.  For one ticket price ($50 if I read it correctly) you can eat and drink all you want and see some live music shows.  The link to the event is http://www.norfolksertomaclub.org/spring_fever.phpThis is, of  course, not part of our campout, but it’s available if anyone wants to go on Saturday. It will make the campground a busy and happening place on Saturday afternoon.

We have the use of the Tallyho club on Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning.  As usual, Friday will be Happy Hour and everyone is asked to bring an appetizer to share.  Since the Burdettes, Rosses, Welfords, and Freeds will be freshly returned from their cruise to the southern Caribbean, we thought it appropriate for the theme for Saturday dinner to be CARIBBEAN!  Judy and I are making jerk chicken (we promise not to make it too spicy), corn on the cob, salad, and rolls.  We haven’t decided on dessert yet – we figure we might find some inspiration on one of the islands we visit in March.
